This is one of my favorites—and by that I mean top two (this and Avion 44). It’s sweet-seeming and vanilla, but has just enough of an edge to remind you it’s still tequila. Sip this and while eating s’mores (or Handel’s Graham Central Station ice cream) —that may be the craziest thing you read on this app, but you’ll thank me later.
About this bottle
Chinaco was the family name of wealthy landowners during the 18th and 19th centuries who fought for Mexico during two wars. It is the only brand of tequila made in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Chinaco Negro Extra Añejo is a single batch, limited edition tequila aged for 5 years in oak barrels. It is made from organic blue weber agave grown on the hillsides of the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountain and hundreds to thousands of feet in high elevation. The same formula has been used since 1978, as well as the same molino, or sugarcane press, which is used for pressing juice from and shredding the piñas. This is bottled at 43% ABV.
