My wife and I have taken a number of years to build our selection of tequilas, very carefully researching as we go. Clase Azul Plata has been on the wish list for a while, but with a $70+ price point, we delayed the purchase. Last evening, we bought our first bottle and, not so surprisingly, enjoyed each sip. This is a sweet tequila, but that sucre is balanced by an almost off the charts flavor profile. Already huge fans of Clase Azul Reposado, we assumed their Plata would be very good too; little did we know it is beyond good, Clase Azul Plata is a tastebud sensation in a class all by itself- only to be sipped- never for mixing. Liquid gold my friend, liquid gold!!! Agave wine at its best.

The nose is pretty plain but with a bit of nice like and sweet light brown sugar nectar. This is really sweet but really good tequila. It's oily and viscous. There's a bunch of butterscotch sweetness that is backed by some tropic fruit and some bitter lime to balance it out. Black pepper eventually comes out and burns in a nice way. This is damn fine tequila, though it only appelas of you like sweetness. There really isnt any smoke. There's kind of a nectar honey element too. There's a little hint of mint. This is what I always imagined tequila tasting like. This is a rich and hedonistic tequila that is still interesting and complex enough.

A rich, Agave Spirit from Mexico that is slow cooked in traditional ovens & distilled before a triple filtration; then packaged in unique, handmade decanters created by local artisans & craftsmen. It has an aromatic birth with notes of agave & spice; while a rich life adds notes of syrup, vanilla, caramel, oak & a hint of steel; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of sherry, pepper, pineapple, earthy & floral notes. Neat. Aroma is birthday cake and a little ethanol. Taste is overwhelmingly sweet, with some bitter anise (licorice) notes. Finish is cloying sweetness. It 'tastes good' because it's not Curevo Gold and is sweet..but there is no complexity or artistry here. Buy only for the bottle or for a special gift for someone that thinks Cuervo is good tequila.

A superb Plata... my favorite... yes, has some big but natural agave sweetness... not to everyone's taste... but ultra smooth, great and subtle agave flavors, very nice bottle... total enjoyment. Price is on the high side... but IMO, worth every penny. I recommend El Tesoro Blanco for those who prefer a less sweet blanco.

Excellent! The distiller description is accurate. This was the perfect compliment to my dessert of 7-layer coconut cake with pineapple ice cream and passion fruit coulis. I was willing to pay $23 for a pour in a restaurant because in PA, this is available only by special order, and I had a $25 coupon for dinner.
