A markedly different style of rum. Certainly has more vegetal notes, but I would not call this a bad thing at all. Has enough sweetness to be pleasing but not overly sweet by any means. I’m intrigued and want to try other Rhum Agricole products. As an aside, I really Love the bottle design. It exudes class and even hides the screw top well enough not to bother me (though I would have preferred the cork). Great job on aesthetics. Also shows off the Rhum’s pleasing color very well.
About this bottle
Like any forward-thinking entrepreneur, Homère Clément saw an opportunity in the midst of chaos, founding Habitation Clément at a time when Martinique had all but lost its sugar industry. Centuries later, the world can sip the fruits of this labor, such as this Select Barrel rhum agricole. It's named thus because it is aged in French oak barrels individually chosen by the cellar master for various characteristics which mingle to form the final product. The rhum is matured in these casks for three years.

I kept sipping and sipping and shipng, ..hic!...and it didn't occur to me until my gf referred to it as "a fine dram." So scotchy, Glenmorangie (which I find bity, sharp), specifically, except the floral notes found in this scotch are replaced by a different flower, less bright, warmer. It's not my fav for sipping, makes a fine mai tai or some other cocktail where the rum (rhum) can shine.
Absolutely delicious. Nose of pine, earth, vanilla and baking spices. Vanilla, some heat, vegetal notes, vanilla, baking spices and oak coat the tongue. The heat does linger a little bit, though the finish is over all quite smooth. My first Rum Agricole, and I'm not disappointed one bit.
Some orange peel and banana , a lot of a grassy note that almost goes into the moldy bread teretory. Sharp alcohol kick.
Nose: Banana, other fruity notes I can't quite pinpoint Palate: Spearmint, slightly bitter Finish: Spicy, dry
Very complex rum, great for sipping. Perfect balance of traditional sweet flavors and earthy notes.
