I was surprised at how poorly this one has been rated. It's not going to blow you away, but its serviceable for a white rum and is even passable neat. It also is very cheap, so while it may not distinguish itself from other white rums, it's still a good value choice, better than Bacardi in my opinion. The nose has pineapple and oak, definitely on the fruity side. The palate features toasted coconut and a bit of sweetness, but not overly so. The finish has some decent length and a bit of pepper. It also has a bit of a burn to it, more than I was hoping for, but not terrible. I would say this is better than Diplomatico and frankly a bunch of other white rums. Again though, the value is where this one shines. No, it won't blow you away, but it's worth the $15.
About this bottle

The rum is very light in flavor and aroma. The scent comes forth with tropical fruit and molasses, with undertones of grassy funk. Upon sipping, there is a mild molasses and fruit note that has a bit of grass and chemical solvent flavor. As the solvent taste dies down, a bit of sweetness comes through with a wisp of wood. It ends off with the sweet molasses aspect dying down to leave it with a fruity, grassy, and woody finish. Overall, it tastes and has the mouthfeel as if it was very watered down. For the same price, there are a lot better of rums.
Typical f Cruzan, this is value priced but delivers big. More than just a mixer, this is perfectly satisfying sipped neat. Butter, vanilla, a little oakiness with more richness than you’d expect from a light rum. Compared to the flagship Cruzan light rum, this is considerably nicer.
Cruzan Diamond Light Rum has exotic aromas of baking spices, caramel, and oak. The entry is soft, with a palate of tropical fruit. The finish is characterized by baking spices and oak. It is weak straight and mediocre when mixed.
