Del Maguey Wild Tepextate Mezcal is an intense Single Village Mezcal, by Del Maguey NOM-O41X in Mexico crafted with rare high altitude, wild Tepextate agave. It has an aromatic birth with notes of agave, herbs & spices, while a rich & spicy life led to a balanced death of medium length. April 2017
About this bottle
Tepextate is a most peculiar type of agave. It is one of the largest varietals, taking roughly 25 years to reach maturity. Its leaves are wide and dramatic, twisting unpredictably as though they were a reflection of the mountainous cliffs to which they cling. Not much is known about this particular mezcal as Del Maguey considers the maestro too valuable to disclose anything about him/her or their whereabouts.

This is a Tepextate with some great flavors but is quite muted from the 45% ABV. If this was bottled at 48+ it would be fantastic. This is a good affordable entry into Tepextate but is much too muted to keep you happy once you explore other Tepextate options.
Smooth, funky sweet banana flavors, with a salt water taffy like aroma. Love this one so much
