Not as grainy as I expected from the mash bill. Full body, but turpentiney finish, likely due to its young age. Reminds me of other Midwestern local distilleries, Koval and Few. Overall impression, there are better ryes for the price.
About this bottle
97% Michigan-grown rye and 3% specialty malted barley make up the mash bill of this Detroit-made rye. Made on a small copper pot-still in an old slaughterhouse in Eastern Market with the organic rye grown in Eaton County, Michigan. Produced in small batches which for them means 5-6 barrels per batch. Aged in charred American white oak barrels.

This is a great rye. It's spicy (naturally since the mash bill is 97% rye) and I do get notes of caramel and butter on the palate. Quite smooth for the proof and definitely a sipper.
Belated. Abbreviated notes: Very sweet, some bubblegum. Hint of spearmint. Again impressed for the young craft whiskey, slightly less so than for the bourbon.
A bit hot but some good flavors too. Vanilla, cherry, and oak being the most prevalent.
It’s a bit bitter for all the notes you read to expect on a rock is better than neat
Really mild up front with a warm spice to follow. Rather nice and good straight up.
