About this bottle
El Ron Prohibido ('The Forbidden Rum') is a unique rum from Mexico. In the 17th century, Prohibido was shipped to Spain in used wine barrels, and it was during the voyage where it acquired the distinctive sweet and bitter taste. It was enjoyed so much that local spirit producers in Spain persuaded the king to ban it. Today, El Ron Prohibido is aged in a 12-year solera system and matured in ex-raisin wine barrels.
