English Harbour 5 Year Rum

The aroma is a sweet and fruity bouquet with a moderate ether that makes the nose hairs stand at attention. There are notes of caramel and milk chocolate, ripe banana, some overripe pineapple, a drop of coconut cream, plus a hint of allspice and cavendish. Very sweet to the taste with a nice dose of spice. Demerara sugar dominates, quickly followed by red pepper, a bit of suede, baking spices, and dried tropical fruit mix. Good body, with slow, thin legs that descend like melted candle wax from a fringe of small, uniform teardrops. The mouthfeel is full and velvety. It finishes with vanilla cola, a little more suede, a touch of citrus rind, and slightly bitter oak. Aroma: 8 Taste: 8 Body: 9 Finish: 8

Nose after a few minutes rest: banana and pineapple tangerine note, nutmeg spice, coconut, raisin, brown sugar, buttery almonds Taste: begins with some brown sugar, fruitiness with a bright citrus note, moves towards a quick caramel, then vanilla, then buttery vanilla, then butter. A touch of spice, banana, nuts, brown sugar, nutmeg and clove spice I n the finish. Moderate Short finish but good.

Overall tastes average for a semi-aged. No over-arching flavor. Better than a white rum, but not even close to a dark. Purchased a 50ml in Jamaica for $4

Drank a bottle a night. With my wife, in Antigua, for a week. Just damn good rum in the Caribbean. 🇦🇬

Started off nice on the rocks but flavour profile changed too much. Better having neat.
