About this bottle

This was released in July 2017 from the Angus Dundee Distillers group as a limited edition bottling from the Glencadam Distillery. This Highland distillery was mothballed (fell dormant) in 2000 and re-opened three years later. This bottling is a result of the distillery's "reawakening". As is standard with their releases, this single malt is not chill-filtered and has no added coloring. 6000 bottles were produced and are individually numbered.

Mothballed in 2000 and reopened only three years later, marketeers obviously decided to celebrate Glencadam's big 're-awakening' with this release. Light citrus notes, honey and cinnamon greet the nose before fresh ginger, sourdough and pistachios give it an interesting twist. The fruity arrival accentuates apricots, banana and gentle oak spices, followed by grassy, zesty and slightly dry flavors. Spearmint, walnuts and salted caramel subside in the balanced and fairly long finish. It offers more complexity and depth than the 10-year-old, I am enjoying it! Enjoyed this. Classic highland with a coastal influence. Very honey forward but with a nice wood spice thanks to the 46% and 13 yrs in the wood. It was in the high $60 range near me which is a decent value but this left me slightly wanting in a way I usually am with highland malts. It’s a nice change of pace from the peat, smoke and sherry bombs that litter the landscape.

Borja Selma 4.3

Dificil catar, personas comiendo cerca.

Nice light fruity nose, mid palate has lots of flavor but the finish ends too bitter and harsh for my liking. Also there is a pretty strong astringency to this malt, I’m usually not sensitive to this proof but you can definitely feel it here. Maybe needs more time in the bottle?

Quite an aggressive nose that fools you for a younger and more alcoholic whisky. Green and fruity, this one has a very marked pear taste. Spicy but not overly so. Medium to long finish with a tad too much burn for my liking.

Aged One 4.0

Vanilla and orange liqueur custard nose. Custard turns to vanilla buttercream. White bread and pears. Soft, mouth coating. Dry, slightly astringent finish.
