You ever have a song where you disliked both the beginning and the end, but there was a solo somewhere in the middle that just forced you to listen to the track over and over again, because it was the song's only redeeming quality? THAT, in liquid form. I'm not even going to get into this whisky's aromatic compounds, because I think Amanda does a very good job of summarizing it, but I will say that both the nose with its underwhelming presence and the finish's bitter repulsiveness makes this one a spirit you want to skip.
About this bottle
Glengarry is named for Alexander Ranaldson MacDonnell of the Highland Glengarry clan, known for wearing bonnets instead of tartans or kilts in homage to a time centuries ago when they were banned. This 12 year old malt from Loch Lomond distillery is aged in a combination of casks - bourbon, re-fill and re-charred oak.

Nail polish and ink marker with some grape chewing gum on the nose. The appearance looks like an obvious dye job. There is some bitter caramel on the palate. Not worth revisiting with another purchase. Guzzled this one down over a week to get it off my shelf. Cheers!
Smooth looks like title bit of burn.
I am not a fan... to say the least.
Fruit, a bit Smokey.
