About this bottle

The Heritage Collection is an annual spring release with each whiskey in the series featuring one of six traditional American whiskey mash bills produced by Heaven Hill. For the 2024 release, the distillery has selected an 18 year-old Kentucky straight bourbon with a mash bill recipe of 78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye. The batch was made from 133 barrels that were filled in December 2005 and matured on the 3rd floor of rickhouse 1I. Limited availability begins nationally in March 2024. (SRP $299.99)

Walli87 4.5

This is a very special aged bourbon selected from 133 barrels handpicked from the third floor of Rickhouse 1l. The bourbon was batched together and bottled at 120 proof, which is a sweet spot for my taste. Given the long aging of 18 years, the most pronounced aroma is heavy oak and tobacco. Once the bourbon has a chance to relax a little while in the glass, more subtle notes of vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch are revealed. On the palate I detect a complement of wildflower honey, hazelnut, baking spices, chocolate, leather, tobacco, and a hint of cherry. The desert-like finish is long, smooth, rich, and chewy. This one really deserves a slightly higher rating of around 4.6 but the app rounded it down. I highly recommend this bourbon for special occasions.

Nose: caramel, cherry cola, oak Body: light and delicate Palate: caramel, cherry, a little peppery on the back palate that just evolves into the long smokey finish. Just delicious Finish: long and smokey. Very nice. Note: 1/2 bottle with don that he bought in KY. First crack 8/30/24. Incredible light and wasy to drink but flavor is robust. A great dram.

GStout 4.8

Nose: super oak forward. Leather, tobacco, cedar, cherry, and some vanilla. Palate: holy cedar and cherry/peach that transitions to vanilla and oak. Spice notes all through palate. Finish: long oak and vanilla. Thei sfrinks super east with a really long finish. Suberb. 93/100

vonWhiskey 4.5

Nose: warm vanilla, cinnamon, corn bread. Cbadied almonds. Amazing. Palette: up front has a dr pepper profile, candied nuts, licorice. Mid has peanut with oak, more of a cola profile. Back has brown sugar but that cola lingers, long finish. Some mint, peanut brittle, dry oak.

Slowbob 4.5

Nice oak but hurt by the proof point. Had it next to 3 different GTS’s which hurt this. Wonderful mouthfeel but not as complex as I was expecting. Really good overall, but maybe have it by itself if you can.

Kind of like a proofed up elijah craig 18. Same nuttiness on the nose followed by rich sweetness and some oak.
