I’ve seen these bottles in stores a plenty but the price for the quantity of bourbon always steers me away from buying it. I was able to try this pour for $10 at a local bar. Had it near in a glencairn glass. The nose was full of spice with some floral hints. It actually got me excited for trying it as I could smell mint, cinnamon and the rye spices I would hope for. The palate is where things turned for me. I had an odd flavor of more of cigar taste and oak. It was quite interesting as I didn’t have any of the spice I would expect. Almost like I just lit up a cigar. I’m a big fan of cigars but not necessarily drinking them. The finish was short, a little heavy in the bite and not memorable or really enjoyable. I’d prefer to just smell this than follow through on drinking it. Overall, I wouldn’t order this again or buy a bottle. I’ve had plenty of better ryes than this.

This was the single barrel, which I did not see listed on the site. Anyway, this is an interesting one. It has a unique flavor profile compared to other ryes I've tried in the past. Honey and maple on the nose. Brown sugar and iced tea on the palate. Not a particularly memorable finish. Overall, it's decent. 3 stars, and that may be considered a bit generous. It's not objectively bad, just not for me. Still better than their bourbon, which I found to be highly disappointing. At this point, I think I'll stay away from Hudson in the future.
Colour: Dark honey Aroma: strong cereal, light scent of honey and stewed fruit Mouthfeel and taste: stone ground rye is dominant on the palate. Slight heaviness on the tongue but not oily. Evidenced by good legs on the glass. Finish: rises up the back of the nose with toasty finish down the throat and into the chest. Lingering tingle on the lips. Late fruitiness appears afterwards
Semi-blind taste. Deep cereal grain smell and spicy taste threw me for a loop when I plum forgot I had a bottle of rye lying around and I thought I was smelling sherried wood and tasting brined smoke and so I was all over the Scotch map on this one. (Still honing my whiskey sampling craft! Hence all the semi-blind tastes.)
Full flavor, like you can smell and taste every ingredient. Rye (and clove? mint?) spices are not shy. Full on, in your face, raw spices. An interesting one to sip - one or two drams is more than enough. Probably amazing in a mixed drink that calls for rye (not my bottle so I may never know).
Delicious. Nose- mint, baking spices & Oak Palate- silky viscosity & rich flavors of toffee, baking spice & Barrel spice but also slight notes of pepper & clove. Finish- Moderate & pleasant
