About this bottle

To celebrate their 150th birthday, the Jack Daniel Distillery released this commemorative edition bottling of Old No. 7 in May 2016. The mashbill is still comprised of 80% corn, 12% barley, and 8% rye. Not to be confused with the other 150th anniversary release bottled at 100 proof, this one is presented at 86 proof in 750ml bottles.

Light nose (like almost non existent), it has a funk, like beam. Malty and one dimensional - β€œsmoother” than no. 7, but the smoothness is more like a watered down retarded funkifucation of regular jack- it throws the nostalgia and spicy charm out the window. πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

Classic banana as well as vanilla nose. Same carry on to the palate. Minor hints of maple as well. Slightly oaky finish. I’d be down with a higher-octane Old No. 7 but this proves a suitable alternative. Looking forward to trying Jack Bonded.

Wish this was still available as it is a great expression of Old No.7 The higher proof really helps shine the flavors. If you see it buy it if you like Jack at all.

As good or better than the single barrel. A true go to.
