Another of Jack's Master Distiller's edition, this time the No.5, that honours Frank Bobo. This is part of a series of expressions that commemorate the 6 Master Distillers that Jack Daniel's have had through history. Bottled at 43%abv, caramel color. On the nose, it is very interesting. Pancakes, maple syrup, bananas, vanilla and brown sugar; your standard jack Daniel's profile, very well delivered. Banana ice cream and thick caramel. After a first sip, a very incredible ashtray note appeared. On the palate is a little straightforward. Prunes, caramel and deep dark spices. Honey. Very enjoyable. Aftertaste is spicy and very different from other Jacks. Oak spice and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. A little sour. Overall, this is an "enhanced" Jack Daniel's. If you are a fan of the brand, you will love this one. My score for it is 83 over 100.

I saw this in the clearance area at the liquor store near my parents for $19.95. I figured it could not be any worse than traditional Jack so what the heck. I can say that I was not disappointed. I found it less sweet and caramelly than traditional Jack. Very smooth with a good mouth feel without any burn or astringent taste. This is by no means a complex Tennessee whiskey. Unlike normal Jack, I could drink this neat. (I probably won’t unless in a pinch). This does hold up in a mix drink. I’m happy with purchase. It’s a good value at this price point.
nose is wonderfully dark fruit and vanilla with caramel, sweet and pungent with a mild spice that gives way to the palate. tasting is very similar with the distinct jack daniels hard candy and barrel wood forward spice, vanilla again followed by a dry, oily, dark earth background. finish is sweeter and the Tennessee filtering finds its notes here with some smokey tones as well. finish isnt long but some more percieved oils do draw it out vs old no. 7
The nose is mild and creamy with banana custard, maple, vanilla and cinnamon. The palate has more cinnamon coming through along with oak, vanilla, creme brûlée and cooked sugar. The finish is medium and fades quickly with banana custard and oak fading nicely.
Nose: Vanilla, Floral Palate: Weak banana pudding, slight lemon Finish: weak rye spice
