About this bottle
Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon was first released in 1992 as part of the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection. It also had a 9 year age statement. But in 2016 the brand removed the age statement while still aiming to achieve the 9 year flavor profile. As of April 2020, the 9 year age statement has returned. The bourbon is still bottled at 100 proof.

NEAT NOSE - Oak, Vanilla, some Nuttiness, diet maple syrup and some baking spices PALATE - Oak is the predominant note here with some vanilla on the backend. FINISH - Medium-Long. The flavor to me, goes Oak > vanilla > oak. BUY? - Yes. Can’t go wrong with the price. BUY AGAIN? - Maybe. I need to blind this against more bourbons in its price range to see which I prefer. This is a decent pour, especially for the price. It’d make for a nice daily sipper. **UPDATE** - The more I have this and Russel’s 10 YR, I much prefer the sweeter and smoother profile of Russel’s 10 YR.
A balanced, Straight Bourbon Whiskey by the Jim Beam Distillery in Kentucky aged 9 years in American oak & bottled at a full 100 proof / 50% ABV. It has a rich & spicy birth with notes of fruits, baking spices, caramel corn, roasted nuts, wood & burnt brown sugar; while a full & spicy life adds notes of fresh oak, orange zest, raisin, sweet maple syrup, caramel candy, wood resin cinnamon, clove & licorice; that leads to a long & oily death with notes of char, cocoa, vanilla & brown butter.
Not bad, its pretty good but I got a growing list I would rather have. I get sweet caramel on the nose, and I get nice strong bold flavors. Caramel, and spice and the finish tastes like apples to me, sweet red apples. But the spice and spicy aftertaste slightly turns me off to it, still a nice drink but I have others I like more.
Shoooot still had time @Looneyhead Tried neat at the houston airport. Its actually delicious. Noted. On the mares its sweet with note of vanilla, caramel, honey, cocoa nibs. On the palate its smooth with a finishing spicy kick with notes of oak, toast, pepper, toasted nuts, crème brûlée
