Rating: 4.10/5 (2022 release, 108.4 proof) Nose: Heavy brown sugar, leather, tobacco, and oak. Really enjoyable nose that keeps you coming back. Palate: Burnt brown sugar, baking spices, leather, tobacco, oaky. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy with neither overpowering the other. Finish: At first the finish was a bit dry, but once the bottle had opened up some that went away. Medium-long finish. Burnt brown sugar, caramelized oak, and rich dark chocolate closes this one out with a perfect hug on the end to let you know it's 108 proof. Overall: Pleasantly surprised with this one. The dark and rich flavor profile of this one really appealed to my palate. One of the better options for a barrel proof double oak.
About this bottle
Kentucky Peerless says it started crafting Double Oak whiskeys with the original intention of rescuing whiskey from a leaky barrel. The rescued whiskey is transferred into a new, charred oak barrel to continue its maturation. The process of exposing the whiskey to a second barrel gives it a chance to take on additional flavor characteristics. This bourbon is bottled at 54.35% ABV and available in Kentucky, California, Illinois, Florida and New York as of September, 2021.

This peerless double oak is my new favorite. Packaging and presentation are top notch, beautiful dark color to the liquid and the flavor seams to have been tailored specifically to my palate. Dark, leathery, a bit of tobacco and a hint of smoke. No filtration and no water added. Medium to full bodied and only a slight burn. Big time buy. Updating my review. I'm on my second bottle now. This bottle seams even more delicious than the last. I've upgraded my score to a 5 right now, because I personally haven't had anything better at this point.
Received a sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium-dark amber. Nose: Caramel, vanilla, dark fruit. Palate: Cinnamon and baking spices, with some mild fruit notes. Finish: Long with medium heat. Splash: A slight nutty note appears that wasn't there before. Overall: 8.5/10 - Everything about this is classic bourbon and the proof doesn't really show until the finish. The nutty note that opens with a few drops of water is a nice bonus. Too bad it's too expensive and rare to be a daily.
Nose: the color on this bourbon is amazing and the double oak notes pop the moment you Sniff it. Oak barrel, cinnamon spice and caramel. Palate: first couple sips are a little hot but that deep caramel flavor is the most pronounced. Big and bold. Finish: dry and long woth some chunky leather. I love the Peerless does sweet mashbill and they have a low entry proof wjen outting the whiskey in the barrel. In my opinion, the lower entry proof gives it more flavor with brands like Peerless or Michters.
nose - marshmellow, sweet candied pecan, grape, musty wood palette - strong wood, with the sweetness of pecan throughout the viscousness finish - not a strong detectable note, with the woodedness being the main experience throughout a deep, pleasing double oaked experience, and one of the more thick, viscous drams. the pleasant sweetness of the nosing doesnt quite follow through as strongly however. all around a solid pour, albeit one that leaves a little bit to be desired.
Nose: Dark orange, caramel, maple syrup, and heavy toasted oak, classic double oak sweetness with a bright citrus lift. Palate: Orange cream and burnt caramel up front, turning dry and tannic with bitter oak and cinnamon. Finish: Medium, mouth-coating, and quite drying oak and spice linger with a touch of cocoa bitterness. Overall: Beautiful nose but overly too wood driven on the palate. The oak overshadows the sweetness.
