Drinking this neat, second of the neck pours. This one sat on my shelf and overtime got pushed to the back. I completely forgot about it until I started to reorganize and it was a pleasant surprise. Just a little dust, bought it still in 2020. This sucker pops out of the glass right away with intense sweetness and orange zest. The flavors zig zag through vanilla, cinnamon, and aromatic spices. Sweetness is akin to corn syrup or a light brown sugar. You get tobacco and leather in the tails. Heat is really nice. If you’ve read some of my posts, I tend to really enjoy whiskeys 110+. Nothing wrong with BiBs but I feel that your getting your gravy at 110+. There is a continuation of citrus and nuttiness. I almost picked up walnuts on the nose. Finish is worn leather with a refined woodsiness. I like this one, price tag is a little perplexing still and when your in the upper tier of bourbon pricing, I feel that consistent juice is mandatory. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about the Barrell barre proof releases but if you see 024, it’s a looker for sure. Cheers!

Really interesting. The Aroma fooled me and initially showed some youth. But all else showed this wasn't the case. Hazelnut Aroma.... Mouthfeel is among the most oily I've ever had. Flavor is rich and of winter spice. Deeper than standard Rye spice. Although there is a mint component for sure. Fruit notes and also the nuttiness again. Notes of pine and definitely good oak depth. Not sure I'd say hazelnut like Aroma, but we'll go with it. Nice and warming on the finish... Time for a few drops of water. Spice explodes with water and brings out hot cinnamon. Some menthol as well.

Fragrant nose that stings. Lots there, almond paste, sour fruit, honey, wood, musk, sweet pickles, taffy, boiled peanuts, butter, cream cheese frosting, wow, one of the best I've smelled in a while. On the palate, sweet and nutty... a bit of cherry, black pepper, slight cacao nibs, bitter walnut, peanut brittle. Lingering cinnamon into the chest. Finishes a bit too bitter, more than I usually like, so a slight downgrade for that. But lots to like here. 6/19/2020

This is my first taste of a Barrell Bourbon product, and it comes in the form of a blind sample. It has a rich amber color, with alcohol and light vanilla on the nose. It has nice rich caramel notes with just a hint if citrus and chocolate. It has a nice spicy sweet kick. Toward the finish I get a bit of leather and oak, and just a little bitterness on the aftertaste. I wasn't blown away by this, but it was an enjoyable sip.

Nose - rich and spicy, cinnamon, barrel spices, dark caramel, burnt citrus peel, almonds, some vanilla Palette - thick, cherry and cinnamon, dark caramel, a bit of bitter orange peel, sweet creamy vanilla, barrel spices again with light tannin bitterness Finish - long lingering spice and dark sweetness, the bitterness disappears, deep but comforting burn

In the Aroma that raw corn, touch nutty, TN style shows up heavily and I love that it does so while not taking over and allowing more of the oaky and spicy KY and IN show through as well; Palate brings more of the oak and darkly fruity and spicy notes while the TN takes a bit of a back seat, but doesn’t disappear; Finish comes through dark and sweet.
