koval bottled in bond rye whiskey

An elegant, certified as both organic & kosher, Single Barrel Rye Whiskey by Koval Distillery in Chicago, Illinois crafted with 100% rye. It is aged for a minimum of 2 years in American white oak barrels before being bottled at 80 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, fruit, wood, herbs & spices; while a rich & full life adds notes of maple, candy corn & honey; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of oak, vanilla, rye & cinnamon. Tried neat at my favorite local bar Tonic. To the nares I get notes of Vanilla icing, cake, cream chz frosting on a red velvet cake. On the palate it’s spicy but smooth. This is smooth and delicious. I expected it to be hotter than it was and I was happy about this.

Cola and birch nose. As always, the house style comes through. Velvety coconut cream and eucalyptus. Oddly refreshing. Nice warming, nougat finish.
