Lapponia Lakka

Review #35 - Liqueur #7 Lapponia Lakka 0.5L bottle which has been opened for several years with less than half the bottle left. This thus suggests influence of oxidation, despite the appropriate storage conditions. Aspect - Amber in colour with a very viscuous, oily nature and very long legs. Nose - very sweet, heavy, nutty (slightly amaretto-like), fruity, peachy, very little alcohol (only 21%) and perhaps some spice. Palate - not as oily as anticipated, and definetly not as sweet and heavy as on the nose. It is light, still sweet, fruity, peachy, mulberry, nutty, ever so slightly spicy-prickly-effervescent, with a slight astringency on the front-end, and definetly with strong apricot notes on the mid-palate. Finish - short-medium length, more oily and honey-like here, with more of this berry influence which I cannot personally pinpoint, but I assume to be cloudberries (I have never tasted them fresh so far, but I would say it is an informed assumption :) ). It is a nice and pleasant liqueur, very unique, not something I would reach for too often, but still enjoyable.

I've never had fresh cloudberries before but this tastes great. Tastes a bit like mild raspberry and white currant. Delicious on ice after a nice meal.
