One extremely rich and dedecant tequila with loads of raisins, dates, figs, honey, dark chocolate, espresso, pineapples, walnuts, almonds, hazlenuts, cinnamon, luxardo cherries, butterscotch, dulce de leche, leather, and tobacco with a backbone of jalapeños and cooked agave. Wouldn’t necessarily put this up on the same level as tears of llorona, don fulano imperial, tres cuatro y cinco, etc. but was very well worth trying.
About this bottle
This Maestro Dobel bottling is part of a series of extra aged tequilas in its 50 range so named to honor founder Juan Dobel's 50th birthday. Every year a new limited edition Maestro Dobel 50 Extra Añejo will be released and this one honors the year he was born -- 1967. Using 100% blue Weber agave sourced from a single family-owned estate in Jalisco, the tequila is aged for a minimum of three years in American and French oak barrels. Then the tequila is finished aging in ex-sherry wine casks. Available in limited quantities at select retailers across the US as of August 2022. (SRP $950)
