I mixed this with fresh pineapple and orange juice with just a hit of lemon. This makes an excellent mixer for a tropical inspired punch. On its own its a bit underwhelming, but that can be forgiven for the pricepoint.
About this bottle
Papa's Pilar Blonde is a blend of column-still rums from Florida, Central America, and the Caribbean. The rums used in the blend range from three to seven years. The rums were Solera-aged in used bourbon and port barrels. The rum is blended and finished in Spanish sherry casks before bottling. The unique Canteen bottle design is an homage to Ernest “Papa” Hemingway's days as ambulance driver during World War One and his coverage of Normandy in World War Two.

A little cloying, definitely along the fruity vibe. Didn't enjoy it in a traditional daiquiri. Too much with the added lime. There's a place for it, but I'm still looking for looking for that best fit.
Tastes very astringenty and alcoholy right of the the bat , then finishes with a light tropical fruit and floral flavor. If you can get past the initial overwhelming alcohol taste it is really good.

Still very sweet, but less so than the dark rum. Better in mixed drinks. Not worth drinking on its own.
Tastes like buttered cinnamon toast. Very smooth.
