My first Papa's Pillar Rum. This is a special and limited release, so if you are looking for a good sipping rum that is not going to break the bank, this could be an option. In Northern Virginia, the cost is similar to a Kirk & Sweeney 23, and the profile and taste are similar, but the Marquesas Blend has a more chocolate, coffee aroma and flavor, which for me makes it stand out from Kirk & Sweeney 23/18, Diplomatico Gran Reserva, Ron Zacappa 23. The palate is rich and complex and the finish is long and smooth.
About this bottle
Papa's Pilar Marquesas Blend Rum was crafted by master blender Ron Call who blended seven rums aged up to 24 years. These rums were sourced from the Caribbean, the US, and Central America. After blending, the rum was placed in ex-bourbon barrels to finish maturing. Named after the Marquesas Keys, a group of uninhabited islands just west of Key West where Ernest Hemingway was once stranded for two weeks after a fishing expedition. This limited edition rum will be available beginning October 2019

Excellent flavor, sweet front with a slight oak undertone and a finish of nutmeg and toasted almond. Has a lot of vanilla on the nose and is very inviting. This is a very well done rum without any funky bites that you might find in other rums. Very smoothed out flavor profile.
Wow! The perfect marriage of rum and bourbon...Buttery sweet, spicy and oak. Need to find another bottle of this very well done Rum. As a traditional and almost exclusive Bourbon drinker for 30 years, this spirit is fantastic! Cheers to the Papa’s Team on a job well done.
This is delicious! Dark brown sugar, toasted marshmallow, and oaky on the palate. Nice long finish. This is a must buy for any bourbon or rum fan.
Sweet, with a maple, caramel flavor with a hint of whiskey on the finish. Delicious sipping rum, and makes a great old fashioned.
Slightly sweet. Smooth as silk. Straight up or with a mixer. Wouldn’t shake much so as to not bruise it
