PUNCHER'S CHANCE KSB *NOSE: Dry, Dry, Dry. Dried Orange and Apple Peel, Dry Weathered Wood, Hay, and Barnyard Funk. Hiding in the background there is a Sticky Toffee Sweetness. *NEAT: Dry & Spicy. Orange Oil, Dry Oak, Cinnamon Stick, Fall Baking Spice, with the slightest hint of Cola Sweetness. Drying Finish with a light glow blooming in the chest. Orange Peel, Cinnamon, Black Pepper Tingle and Drying Tannins coat and layer on the palate. *SPLASH: Nose gained a Floral Quality and it reduced the Tannins on the palate just a bit. Gave it an overall sweeter character. Not a Caramel/Vanilla Sweet, but more of a Spiced Apple Holiday Cake. *VERDICT: The Mashbill of 75/13/12 is only produced by two big boys that I know of, Beam & Wild Turkey. I did get some WT'ish Barnyard Funk, but what this reminded me most of is my lone bottle of Johnny Drum Private Stock. In fact, going back and comparing notes, they are nearly identical. Maybe this is what you get when you combine sourced Turkey and Sourced Beam? I really liked the Drum and I like this one too. Not a traditional profile, but it suits my palate just fine, especially for less than $30.

Have read a couple good reviews on this but always thought it was gonna be the usual sourced generic bourbon with fancy labeling. For $30's I wanted nothing to do with it. On sale at TW for $16.99 is worth a flyer though. Nose has dusty orange peel, bit of barrel char and some baking spice. Not too bad at all. Palate is Grand Marnier, light caramel and oak with a spicy sizzle. Finishes charred oak, orange peel and some fading spicy sweetness. Flavors are a little thin but pleasant. Nice overall different bourbon experience. While this is better than I expected I would probably not repurchase ymmv.........81/100......I'll give it a solid 3 its good enough especially at price I paid. In the $30's better stuff out there
EYE Amber NOSE Caramel, oak, vanilla, baking spice, nuts and a touch biscuity. Pretty standard aroma, nothing great nothing bad, decent standard profile. PALATE Oak, caramel, baking spice, vanilla, nuts, biscuity, slight dried dark fruit, pralines. Sweet and oaky with a nice nutty candy note that’s a tad on the sweet side, but again, pretty standard. FINISH Medium -> Oak, baking spice, fruit, dried fruit, nuts. BALANCE, BODY and FEEL Decent balance, medium body and a soft easy feel.
Wow! This is an amazing bourbon with a wonderfully rich and sweet flavor profile. Neat or on ice are both equally good. Low burn/bite on initial taste, with smooth, sweet flavors of vanilla and caramel. Medium oak flavors on the mid notes with a slightly heavier taste profile but well balanced. The tastes blend beautifully from initial to miss to what I personally feel is an amazing finish of Maple syrup notes. I think I just found my new favorite bourbon.
We like the blend here. It has a lot of warmth. Vanilla, toffee, caramel, and brown bread. The body is medium heavy, with a fairly long finish. Slightly dry, and a warming ginger-like heat at the tail end. A real bargain for the whiskey enthusiast looking for an affordable bottle that will please everyone but the most snobbish. Nice for sipping, but also a real hit in classic bourbon cocktails.
At this price point you can't pass it up. Vanilla and caramel scents mixed with pepper and butterscotch. The smell comes off sweet but the taste quickly takes over with spicy pepper, clove and allspice. The heat gives a lengthy slightly smoky finish. It taste deceptively spicy. The heat comes in hot and slowly unfolds to a mentholated finish. Good buy
