El Mayor Cristalino is an excellent charcoal filtered anejo expression. On the nose we find a prominent vanilla component, with hints of butter, dry straw, sage, and bubble gum. The flavors are very complex with notes of vanilla, a medicinal licorice component, nuances of oak and caramel, and a spicy dry finish like that of cinnamon. It's not as crisp and fresh as other cristalino tequilas but is a high quality pour.
About this bottle
Tequila El Mayor Cristalino is produced from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave harvested in the Lowlands of Jalisco. The agaves are cooked in an autoclave rather than an oven and the cooked agaves are shredded with a mill rather than a tahona. Twice distilled in copper-lined pot stills, it is then aged like an Añejo for at least 12 months in American oak. But before bottling, it is fine charcoal filtered to remove its color. Available as of September 2019, Cristalino is a permanent addition to the brand's portfolio.

Not impressed. Perhaps the filtering just takes too much out for me, especially when compared to the rest of El Mayor’s line up.
A nice woody and slightly smokey flavor. Pretty smooth too.
