Love this one. It has a hint of that cotton-candy/grape flavor I get really strongly from the Casamigos reposado. But this is not a reposado, so shouldn’t have any barrel influence… and it’s supposedly additive free (maybe extra so since I just noticed mine is the organic version of the blanco). Whatver it is, it’s much better framed, less dominant, and more rounded out here. There’s a complex backdrop of other stuff going on, from floral notes to tropical ones. Really enjoying this one, after a few times sipping on it.
About this bottle
Tres Agaves Tequila Blanco was first released in 2010. It is made with organic blue weber agave harvested from the Tequila Valley region in Jalisco. After the piñas (agave hearts) are baked in a stainless steel oven and crushed, the agave juice is distilled twice in a pot still. The tequila is then immediately bottled at 40% ABV. Additive free.

Nose - mild cooked agave, mushroom like earthiness, oily cooked bell pepper, green onion, mild ethanol burn. Taste - sweet cooked agave, black pepper, nutmeg, earthy mushroom, stewed vegetables, mild alcohol bite, finishing quickly with fading sweet and stewed vegetal and fungal notes. Not a good sipper. Mixes fairly well, but not a well as some cheaper options like Olmeca Altos. The flavors are subtle and not well integrated. It’s definitely not terrible, but I won’t purchase again.
Great agave nose and flavor with notes of juicy fresh and baked agave. Good balance of vegetal, mineral, herbal, and sweet. Light pepper spice and slight green olive. Very smooth with full body and very little alcohol burn. Nice medium finish. I'm glad this was on sale and I gave it a try.
On the nose there is a very fruity sweet aroma. The nose carry over to the palate, it is fruity, sweet citrus with nothing unpleasant or off putting. This is sweeter than the reposado without the bourbon flavor. A very good and enjoyable tequila.
Not my favorite. Burns a bit on the way down. Definitely better tequilas in this price range. Ok for a margarita.
My new go to for Magaritas! Pairs well with the Spicy variety I make at home.
