First off this is a delicious after dinner drink and a large break from my whiskey heavy past month. Nose is rich with baking spices; allspice, clove, and nutmeg. Paired with a bit of ethanol adds a touch of burn to the nose. The taste is also heavy with baking spices. Viscous, bittersweet, and perfectly spiced. Finish is lingering spice giving way to a balanced bittersweet. I am looking forward to getting this into cocktails.

About this bottle
Vigo Amaro made its debut in 2019 from Philadelphia Distilling. Head distiller Aaron Selya has worked on its creation for four years, and was formulating his recipe even prior to his work with the distillery. The amaro is double macerated with a proprietary blend of botanicals designed to meld tradition with new world innovation. Vigo is named for Francis Vigo, an Italian financier who supported the colonial cause during the Revolutionary War.
