NOSE Oak, Riesen candy, caramel, dried dark fruit, baking spice (anise, clove, cinnamon), citrus peels and hazelnuts. Aroma is weighty and crawls through the nasal passages on legs of spice and sweets with a body of oak. PALATE Oak, Riesen, cinnamon red hots, coffee, dried dark fruit, leather, baking spice and hazelnuts. Similar structure and profile as the aroma, but a bit fuller and richer. FINISH Med-long -> Oak, Riesen, cinnamon red hots, coffee and spice.
About this bottle
This release is a continuation of Westland’s exploration of Quercus garryana, the rare oak indigenous to the Pacific Northwest. It is matured in a combination of that oak from already-felled trees, along with ex-brandy and ex-sherry casks. Only 5,922 bottles will be released globally as of September, 2021.

Complex nose, leather, fruit, vanilla, and other. Strong and rich flavor, oily and sweet and spicy. Lasting finish with various flavors coming through. A very complex whiskey.
Cherry and sweet nose with smoked cherry wood BBQ chips that linger but not a scorched tone. Sherry rounds out
Complex yet balanced, with some spice showing up among the rich fruits and raisins. Delicious.
Still just tastes a little too young but the oak imparts some nice richness
