About this bottle

Astral Tequila is made with 100% blue Weber agave which, after cooking, are crushed with a traditional stone tahona. Additionally, the agave fibers called the "bagasso" are added to the fermentation process to enhance the flavor. The blanco tequila is bottled without aging at 80 proof. Diageo, the new owners of the brand, have relaunched this tequila brand in April 2022. It is made at a new distillery with a new recipe and new packaging since the previous 92 proof version.

drlewis 4.0

New Diagio formula and distillery, 80 proof, tasted neat, room temp. Clear, slight grey in color, rich coating legs in the glass. Floral honeysuckle on the nose, spicy geranium, with an earthy citrus in the background. Clean and floral vanilla in the mouth, sweet green vegital flavors, a little earthiness, with a little sour and funk in the background. Coating soft mouthfeel. Not much or any ethanol. Very pleasant. Finish is rather quick, with lime and saline dominating. No pepper or grassy spice. A really easy tequila to drink neat, good flavors around that floral/vegital base. Will try mixing it and report later.

AnttiRG 3.5

A complex Agave Spirit by NOM 1607. It has an aromatic birth with notes of agave, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich & complex life added notes of caramel, grapefruit, melon, grass, lemon peel, & pear, that led to an herbal death of medium length with notes of oak, pepper, almonds, clove & coriander.

AnttiRG 4.0

A rich Agave Spirit by NOM 1137. It has an aromatic birth with notes of agave, earth, fruits, herbs & spices; while a rich & spicy life adds notes of citrus & white pepper; that led to a balanced death of medium length. December 2017 / March 2018 / June / September / October 2019

curlyshea 3.8

Orange/citrus palate up front, followed by sweet grassy and earthy flavor, with a very salty finish. Smooth. Plenty of character, especially for a blanco. All you need is a lime for a shot, plenty of salt on the back end

Hogun33 3.5

A somewhat different taste than the normal blanco. Definitely agave, but more herbal, earthiness along with some grapefruit tang.

Ye old fridge 3.3

Not our favorite but servicable for the price point for making homemade margs.
