Hungarian Fair, Joe's Playlist #1 finished in a Tokaji barrel. The nose is sweet and rich, hints of dessert wine. I've never had Tokay wine, but I read that Tokaji is like sweet white wine. After a few minutes, more fruit, maybe a hint of rubber, strong maple syrup. On the palate, this is thick initially, but then it seems to dissipate. Clove, some cacao nibs, salt, underlying sweetness, and nutty towards the end, some bitter walnut. The spice is gone quickly, this has a short finish, but the warmth in the chest lasts. That's the most prominent feature of this whiskey, it's not as hot on the tongue as you would expect it to be, but gives a nice Kentucky hug. This is straightforward, a pleasant sipper. 7/7/2020
