N: spicy, evergreen, peppermint, toffee P: medium-dry and spicy, herbal, thin. Viscosity is lacking compared to most ryes and bourbons. F: average length, lingering rye spice I'm assuming that either the cask is a refill or the mashbill doesn't qualify for bourbon or rye, for this not to qualify as either. Rye is definitely what carries the nose and palate, with the dry herbal qualities. Because it doesn't commit one way or the other, I'm afraid the effect is a bit anemic. It's pleasant enough to sip, but it doesn't have the rich, vanilla dessert qualites of bourbon nor the more robust, complex spicy edge of good ryes.
About this bottle
Bully Boy is a craft distillery in Boston, MA, founded in 2010 by Will and Dave Willis who produce their own whiskey. Although this bottle carries no age statement, by law anything labeled "straight" whiskey must be at least two years old. Not a bourbon or a rye as the mash bill doesn't qualify for either.

Just finished the first of 2 bottles. Got the 2nd when I was 2 drams into the first. Copper color, sweet on the nose, light burn after. Very drinkable neat, likely would water down too much with a cube, would be great in a cocktail. Price point is fabulous for what you get. If you are in New England, get yourself 2 bottles like I did. Looking forward to visiting the distillery tasting room when I am next in Boston.
Reminds me more of a Canadian than most American whiskeys - but like a high quality Canadian. I get the sweetness of corn followed by the spice of rye. Perhaps it's because I've only acquired bottles of this around Christmas but drinking this makes me think of the holidays and spiced food and sweet caramelly pastries
This whiskey has a light sweetness on the nose with a lot of breadiness. The palate is very similar with the addition of a bit of pepper and bright fruit. Finish is short and a bit toasty. Overall very tasty
The alcohol impression is rather strong, (may be masks the flavors) Probably due to a lack maturity. But keep a real personality of this Boston identity. A must try if your are passing through in Boston.
This bottle way exceeded my expectations for a budget bottle. Went to Boston on vacation and wanted to buy a local whisket. A smooth and tasty treat that everyone in our group enjoyed.
