Such a nice Cognac! Noses of ripe orchard fruits--a combination of apple, pear, white grapes, and apricots. There is also a vanilla spiciness aroma. Sipping this nectar the fruit is forward and the vanilla spice follows immediately. Holding it on your tongue these flavors interplay nicely like an alcoholic fruit punch. The finish is medium long, drying, inviting another sip. Yes, there are better and more complex Cognacs out there; after all, this is the introductory expression from Camus. But, what an introduction! This can usually be found in the $20-30 range here in the US. It would be very hard to find a better value. This is very easy to sip and enjoy and would serve as a fantastic starter for a novice Cognac drinker. And, if you are not a novice, it is still a fantastic Cognac.
About this bottle
Camus VS Cognac is part of the core range of cognacs from the largest family-owned cognac house. All cognacs from the house include at least some eaux-de-vie from the Borderies region. The VS is part of its collection of intensely aromatic cognacs. The wines are distilled on the lees and a technique called "Instensity" is used in the distillation process where the "heads" that present the best aromatic qualities are selected rather than being redistilled and set aside. The eaux-de-vie is matured in small, lightly toasted fine grain French oak. Aged a minimum of 2 years.

Peppered pear nose. Complex and long: starts with peppery alcohol, then gives way to lilac (close my eyes, the drink is lilac-hued). It finishes like a Granny Smith, it doesn't leave my mouth dry, in fact my cheeks water for more. A light drink, not my custom or preference; done well, just not my type. A soft spoken blonde with baby blues that has to be coerced to blossom: the tease is for some.
Bubble-gummy, a bit harshy on a nose, a little unbalanced, but still a pleasant yet simple experience.
Lots of depth and viscosity for such a young spirit. I will buy again!
Auch guter Cognac wird nicht mein Lieblingsschnaps.
Caramell and long taste. A fine vs.
