About this bottle

Vive le Cornichon is the first limited edition release in Citadelle's "Les Excentriques" collection. Here, in addition to juniper berries and the other 19 botanicals used for Citadelle Gin, cornichon pickles are used as one of the botanicals. Maison Marc based in Burgundy grows the cornichons without pesticides, insecticides or preservatives. This is the first product to be produced at the new Citadelle Gin Distillery which was designed by Owner and Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel. Available in the US as of October 2022. (SRP $29.99)

You can really taste the cornichons, but it is not overpowering. They are front and center, but subdued enough to not crowd out the other flavors. This is a dry and herbal gin - I get some Mediterranean herbs - maybe rosemary and thyme? A little bit peppery. It has a little briney tartness, undoubtably from the cornichons. Mainly got it to be a martini gin, particularly gibson martini, and it does that well. Too bad that this is a limited release, because I could see this as a great martini go to. I'd probably keep it in stock full time.

Lightest base note of juniper surrounded by airy hints of pickling herbs, sour brine and cucumber pickle. Entirely agreeable and interesting but a pickle lover may find themselves wanting a stronger flavor profile.
