About this bottle

Crown Royal Noble Collection French Oak Cask Finished is the fourth release in this limited edition collection which first launched in 2016. This expression takes Crown Royal DeLuxe Whisky and ages it further in toasted new French oak casks. The French oak used to craft the barrels were sourced from the Vosges region where the oak is known for its straight and tight grain. The oak is open air-seasoned for two years before a two-step fire roasting. Available as of June 2019.

The first pour of this I was disappointed, there were no significant notes of any specific flavor or spice that I could pick up. However as I have had more of it I have found love for how unique it is. This release is so smooth and clean, but in regards to flavor, all I can say is it taste like whiskey. Just whiskey to it's core. Pure, smooth whiskey. Nothing else, and that in itself is truly an accomplishment. My favorite use of this whiskey is to make a old fashioned, which when using this pour they are typically especially delicious.

I enjoy the Noble series from Crown and the different expressions. This one ranks in the upper middle. Not a lot of strong notes, but a little mix of everything from the sweetness, to spice, to toasted French cask on the finish. Very pricey at over $100. I love the 13 year bourbon mash at a much lower price point.

Not much Initial nose or flavor. But the longer I sipped on this dram I came to appreciate it's very mellow smooth neutral flavor. Worth a try!!!

srambeau 4.3

Vanilla forward nose. Medium mouth feel. Vanilla and sugary flavors (caramel? maple?) with a touch of spice and oak.

Definitely better regular CR, the hints of barrel aged notes gave red fruit and nutmeg... nothing spectacular.

As smooth as regular c.r. but has nice lingering aftertaste 👌
