A rich, limited batch, aged Afro-Carribean Rum that is a collaboration between Barbados' Foursquare, aged in American white oak & Gray's Distillery of Mauritius, aged in French limousine oak & Cognac casks. It's then married in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at Foursquare & bottled at 43% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of buttery oak, marmalade on toast, chocolate truffle & dried berries; while a rich life adds notes of chocolate, oak, butterscotch & ginger; that leads to a balanced death of medium length with notes of sweet pepper, anise, oak, juicy raspberry, orange oil & caraway. About this bottle
Equiano Rum is an African-Caribbean blended rum made from 100% molasses from two distilleries: Gray's in Mauritius and Foursquare in Barbados. The Gray's rum was aged for 10 years in a combination of French Limousin and ex-cognac casks while the Foursquare rum (blend of column and pot still rums) was aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled without added colorants, spices, additives or added sugar. Equiano Rum is named for Olaudah Equiano (1745-1797), a Nigerian-born writer, entrepreneur, abolitionist, and freedom-fighter who purchased his freedom in 1766.

I can definitely get those foursquare notes, but there’s something else. Something sweet, spicy, and warm, for a 43% ABV. There’s something artificial in the initial taste, but it finishes with sweet notes like smarties (light).
Excellent. Since Richard Seale had control over the blending and bottling at the Foursquare distillery, you can be assured that this 100% quality rum that has not been messed with in any way.
Nice spice and burn that more dances on the tongue than overwhelms. Molasses addes wonderful toffee flavor. Perfect to drink straight or with an old fashion or Manhattan.
Banana, spice and a hint of band-aid aroma, but pleasant. Hints of lavender and tons of barrel with a rich toffee finish. A bit hot, but overall really solid.
Un nez café et caramel très marqué et agréable, puissant en bouche, un rhum excellent.
