Fremont Mischief Urban Foraged Marion Blackberry Apple Brandy

Rating: 17/23 I thought that this would be sweet, bordering on a liqueur, but the marionberry actually gives it a full, richness that adds a new dimension to the brandy and gives it a greater impression of age. There's now a clear vegetal layer from the marionberry seed, but it also adds some tannins that taste kind of like a barrel. I still get that underlying dry sweetness from the apple brandy though. I'm not sure I like this quite as much as the regular apple brandy. The apple brandy is tastes like a more coherent product, whereas this doesn't actually taste a lot like marionberry and it has an odd vegetal flavor. This is still really good though, so I'm looking at a 16 to 17. It's solidly complex and tasty, so the real question is whether any of the flavors seem "off". I think I'll land on a 17, but it's close.
