Habitation Velier Privateer Unaged Pot Still Rum

On the nose I get banana taffy, cantaloupe, vanilla extract, and faint acetone or nail polish remover with a hefty dose of nose hair-singeing ethanol. The palate is quite hot with more banana taffy, golden raisins, medicinal honey, and eggy vanilla custard, and fainter notes of latex and turpentine. The finish is medium length and hot, dominated by the banana taffy and turpentine, with a subtle splash of grapefruit juice. My first impression was this must have been made on a still in someone's backyard, but the more I sip on it the more I like it.
