About this bottle

Named after American storyteller Ernest Hemingway, this whiskey is made from a blend of straight rye whiskeys. The majority of the blend (94%) is a 9 year-old straight Indiana rye and the other remaining portion is a 4 year-old Kentucky straight rye. The ryes were blended and finished in rum-seasoned oloroso sherry casks before bottling at 100 proof. This wider release in April 2023 follows the inaugural batch of First Edition bottles sold in collectors packaging which sold out a week after its fall 2022 launch. (SRP $109.99)

I discovered this at a bar from a resort i was staying at in Key West. Made locally and named after the famous writer. I must say i was quite impressed with this. So much so that i requested another pour afterwards. The nose contained a mix of elements. Namely that of the brown/burnt sugar variety. A hint of vanilla as well. The combination gave off a slight creme brulee essence. The palate detected more of the vanilla with a dash of burnt sugar. What made it more worthwhile was the rye spice that was quite prominent that later gave way to the oak and leather towards the lasting finish. There was tickle of ethanol that subsided after the first couple of sips. It was smooth sailing afterwards. I spread the word with fellow drinkers and we almost crushed the whole bottle. If you're ever in the Key West vicinity, I recommend you seek this out and give it a whirl.

The nose is loaded with baked rye bread, some vanilla and hints of oak & alcohol. The viscosity is incredible and a very creamy on the palate. It’s as if im “eating” as well as enjoyably drinking this Rye. There are definitely the notes of Rye, and the the initial taste is vanilla & bread, bur followed very quickly by the spice, ground pepper and heat of the Rye. This is 100-proof and flexes its higher-proof muscles to let you know what you’re dealing with when you drink it! The finish is warm and enjoyable. No “Kentucky Hug” In short, this is well worth seeking it out. If you find it…. Be sure to try it!!!

This was an outstanding rye. Hit just the right amount of traditional spicy/floral rye notes while still having some smooth edges of vanilla, dried fruit, and caramel more indicative of a "Kentucky style" rye.

I love this one. Yhe rye is straight forward but the age is there. The rum and sherry really play well together. A super enjoyable finished rye that one to seek out if you enjoy that type of dram.

Pleasant nose, not super hot on the pallet. Thick legs on the glass. Want to try the rum from the distillery. Not bad

Very sweet and rich high rye, excellent full bodies rye, little menthol and mint, great spicy more of white pepper,
