Had heard good things about this one, but due to past experiences with Cuervo tequila I wouldn’t buy anything bigger than a .375l. Better than I expected. A little harsher than El Jimador Resado, but definitely not unpleasantly harsh. You don’t need the salt and lime, nor any mixer. This is a sipper, and one I will revisit.
About this bottle
Rested in oak barrels for six months to mature its flavor, Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado is reputedly the first tequila created by the Cuervo family in 1795. This is agave at its base; it's the foundational flavor that Mexicans, herein, Mexico, are accustomed to. This is our baseline. So, it's pretty familiar, with its earthy tones and hints of vanilla, its medium body, and taste.
This Tradicional Reposado has a crystal-clear, straw-gold appearance. The aroma is of peppery agave nectar. The flavor is similar, with a sort of savory character. It has a light body and finishes dry. RJT
You simply can’t beat the value. At under $20, this is a great tequila for both cocktails and drinking neat. And for those shot takers, this is a must have.
Nose of agave, black pepper, vanilla, earth, lime and maybe some wood. Tastes the same with some salt. Lightly sweet, thin and a little harsh.
Smells like that nasty Gold you typically find in the rail of any bar, but tastes surprisingly light and smooth.
