About this bottle

Nixta is billed as the world's first corn liqueur. It's made by the team behind Abasolo, a Mexican whisky made from ancestral corn, at the Destilería y Bodega Abasolo in Jilotepec de Abasolo. Nixta uses the ancient process for which it's named, nixtamalization, to derive flavor from its base of 100% non-GMO Cacahuazintle maíz. It's bottled at 30% ABV.

Neat. In the glass, it is clear and golden with long legs. Aroma is unique and more interesting that I expected. Sweet creamed corn, nutty toasted corn/tortilla/masa, sour mash, some minerals, honey, and butter. Rich mouthfeel. Taste is very smooth and sweet with lighter sugars, such as corn syrup (not a shock), cane sugar, to light honey. The other notable flavor is masa flour, tangy stone fruit ..maybe plum. Finishes sweet and a little tart, fading a bit into a long lasting, but delicate nutty masa. I don't believe that neat is the way to go, but better used over ice or as an interesting sub/addition for some cocktails for a sweet, earthy note Worth keeping for more than the bottle..which is a conversation starter on its own

Wonderful liqueur. Sweet tortilla chip. Buttery. Notes of caramel. Yes to the oily feels but also may just be the density from the sugars added (think like the viscosity of simple syrup) I drank this after drinking the same brand‘s whiskey, Abasolo. Kind of feel like this is just a sweetened version of that whiskey. May or may not be true but i still enjoy this liqueur. Made a margarita and subbed this for cointreau and enjoyed it a lot! would definitely pair it with an earthy or vegetal tequila/mezcal

AnttiRG 2.5

A Mexican corn liqueur crafted by Destilería y Bodega Abasolo from the base of ancestral cacahuazintle (kaka • wha • SINT • lay) maize, grown in the high valleys & foothills of the Nevado de Toluca volcano using the nixtamalization technique. It has an aromatic birth with notes of Cornbread, toasted corn, vanilla & caramel; while a rich & full life led to a balanced & creamy death adding notes of dried fruits & roasted nuts. Lo primero que te atrapa es la bonita botella y luego el sabor. Es bastante único, definitivamente es maiz nixtamalizado con notas tierrozas. Combina muy bien con el Amaro Montenegro.

This is almost like liquid creamed corn, and I mean that in the best way possible. Little big of sugar and caramel lead into some vanilla, and big sweet corn taste throughout.

Sweet. Corn. Really like boozy sweet corn. Luxerious on the tongue. Good by itself, and used with success in some milky cocktails.
