About this bottle

Nocheluna is a brand of Sotol made from 100% wild-grown Dasylirion harvested from the brand's family-owned property in Chihuahua, Mexico. After harvest, the plant is cooked for 72-96 hours, crushed and then fermented for a week in open-air wooden vats before copper still distillation. The Nocheluna team includes fourth-generation Master Vinatero Don "Lalo" Eduardo Arrieta, sotol educator Ricardo Pico, and Casa Lumbre Chief Innovation Officer Iván Saldaña. Musician, actor, and designer Lenny Kravitz is also a partner in the brand. Available in Mexico and select US markets as of October 2022 with a nationwide and select international expansion by the year's end. (SRP $79.99)

dlfg13 4.5

The nose has notes of wet stone, petrichor, earthy smoke like peat smoke, lemon scented laundry powder, and muddled mint leaves. The mouthfeel is heavy and slightly oily. On the palate I get a continuation of the nose with wet stone and earthy/peaty smoke, along with notes of lemon zest, bruleed grapefruit, spearmint tea, and black pepper, with a faint note of sweet cream. The finish is long, dominated by the earthy smoke, along with something reminiscent of smoked bacon, and a hint of sea water.

Looneyhead 3.8

Smoky, peppery briny sotol nose. Rich, smoky and herbal on the palate.

Tastes like mezcal “light.” Smooth, and slightly floral.
