About this bottle
At 73 percent ABV, Plantation Original Dark Overproof is simply the heavy-hitter version of the Plantation Original Dark, at 40 percent ABV. Both are sourced from Angostura in Trinidad, and both are a blend of younger rums with a touch of eight year rum to add a slug of hogo. Aging is done in heavily charred ex-bourbon casks, followed by a dunk in Cognac casks in France. This review covers the original Trinidad-only version. In mid-2015 Plantation announced that subsequent releases will be a blend of Trinidad and Jamaican rums.

Woof!!! What a crazy drink!! Spicy, tangy, strong rum!! The French oak Cognac cask and bourbon cask comes off strongly, an amazing mix! The rum flavours are unlike anything I've ever tried before. I found it too strong, but my boyfriend adored it!!
CRAZY high octane! Its got a decent flavor for such a lethal proof but really this is all about putting the ole’ KAPOW on a rum cocktail. Too bad this seems to be discontinued...a fill liter of this jet fuel cost me like $23.
Smoothest 151 available IMO. Won't destroy the palate of your guests, Black Blended Overproof in Martin Cate's rum hierarchy. Excellent mixer and drink topper.
This is a righteous overproof rum. Flavorful, rich and powerful, wouldn’t sip it but seems it would be great in a cocktail.
