NOSE 3.75 Very inviting nose of chocolate covered cherry, fresh baked pie crust, and vanilla caramel taffy. Smells like the inside of a old school candy shop PALETTE 4 Willy wonka palette, full gambit of candy here. Salted caramel, butterscotch, grahm cracker crumbs, malted chocolate shake. Dark fruit FINISH 4 Long, oily. Coats the mouth great and the flavor just keeps going a revealing notes of chocolate covered waffer like a kitkat, Cinnamon sugar, and candied pecan. VALUE 4 Great bottle for 70. A yearly release that will be on my list of bottles to hunt for every time it drops.

NOSE Caramel, herbal, oak, copper, dried fruit, leather, pepper, baking spice touch of malted milk balls. The dark sweet notes, caramel heavy, glide through heavily but balanced out by the rest of the notes. PALATE Herbal baking spice, oak, dried fruit, malted milk balls, citrus zest, copper and some pastry notes and leather. Spicier and brighter than the aroma, but still balanced and nice. FINISH Medium-long -> Baking spice, oak and herbal notes fade out evenly

Leroy Johnson 4.3

Nose: Carmel, vanilla a bit of ethanol brown sugar Palate: sweet notes on the tongue. Rye spice on the back of the palate finishing in a peppery note. This is not a dill rye. Finish: rye spice with sweetness. Overall: man this is so good. It’s not old scout smooth ambler cask strength rye good but what is. It’s solid and I went back for a second pour.

Pretty hot and maybe it’s the label, but almost a piney flavor to me.
