Bottled: 9-VII-21 (I think it's a Roman numeral?); Bottle No.: 09381 N: Agave, caramel, vanilla, tropical fruit, charred stone fruit. Very clean, very smooth. P: Vanilla, cooked tropical fruit, almond, maybe chestnut (although I'm not sure I know what those taste like - something nutty and vaguely familiar anyway), sweet baking spice, caramel, generally sweet with no hint of ethanol whatsoever. F: Dash of cinnamon spice, agave that lands somewhere between fruit and cooked vegetables, caramel, vanilla, touch of mint. I was gifted a bottle of the Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo and have quite enjoyed it (still working on that bottle). Decided to give this less-aged version a shot. No disappointment here. Really tasty tequila. The agave notes are subtle and delightful here (where I tend to find them overpowering in many/most tequilas). Great balance, an excellent sipper, and reasonably priced. If I had a go-to tequila, this could definitely be it. ____________ Please come join an unofficial Distiller community on Discord (now one whole year old!): https://discord.gg/4nfePCdyKM. About this bottle
The Reposado expression from Jose Cuervo's top tier Reserva de la Familia line debuted at the end of 2020. The highlighted production method comes down to the use of three different types of barrels. This includes heavy toasted American oak, lightly toasted American oak, and lightly toasted French oak, each of which helps impart different flavor characteristics.

Pleasant, enjoyable tequila. A bit buttery and creamy on the entry with baked agave, vanilla, caramel, baking spices, citrus, black pepper and oak notes. Slightly bittersweet on the long finish.
Tastes more like a sherry, cherry scotch
