The nose is youthful but a nice mix of earthy rye, barley, charred oak, wing sweetness and just a touch of vanilla and caramel. It all comes together quite nicely, albeit a little softer then you would like given what lovely notes are detected. It gets more mellow and creamier as it breathes, making it more inviting. The palate is very gentle yet gives a slight kick of rye spice as a barley graininess comes in next. The mouth heats up as dry oak washes over as coming in last is faint hints of wine sweetness that come across as a bit too soft. The creaminess from the nose doesn’t translate too well here, but it isn’t exactly missed as as is, this whiskey is quite pleasing. It all eventually melds together to remind you pleasantly of dark chocolate. The finish is short to medium with a sharp and spicy dark chocolate mixed with oak and rye that fades with all else disappearing before you know it. Much potential to this whiskey with a bit more age, maybe a bit more proof. Would absolutely keep on the shelf with my only regrets being I never made a cocktail with it before finishing the bottle.

Rye and grass up front, a surprise after a honey nose with some apple, and a nice rounded, but short finish.
