Nose is layered with fresh cut hay, candied orange peel, rye crisp cracker, raspberry, and burnt sugar. Extremely inviting. Ethanol is crazy low. Palate offers peppery rye spice, peach cobbler, cinnamon, clove, black tea, sarsaparilla, cherry, and mint. Not very herbal/botanical, more of a “sweet and spicy” vibe. Flavors are rich, bold, and delicious. Lengthy finish brings floral honey, boysenberry, gingerbread, barrel char, the burnt sugar promised in the nose, and soft sweet oak. Mouthfeel is thick, chewy, and slightly creamy. A much spicer version compared to the 8 and 9 year, but absolutely fantastic. Everything meshes exceptionally well. At $79.99 it’s it’s actually ridiculously underpriced. (Don’t tell Sagamore lol) An absolutely top notch rye and one of the best I’ve ever had.

BATCH 3A NEAT NOSE - Mild, minty rye spice with strong citrus notes. PALATE - Oak, cinnamon, rye spice, and Juicy Fruit (the gum)! Such a pleasant and enticing palate. FINISH - Rye spice melded together with orange peel and Juicy Fruit gum. BUY? - Absolutely. BUY AGAIN? - Yes. This is better than the 8 and 9 year in my opinion. Also, the price point is fantastic. Sagamore is one of the best that provides excellent whiskey at excellent prices.
Aroma - brown sugar, cherries, vanilla beans and caramel. Like all Sagamore Rye offerings (at least the ones that I have had).. Smells like a bourbon lovers rye. Its balance is tremendous. Rye is more bready than it is spicy. Taste - Damn. That follows the nose, but there is this amazing rye finish that is just an absolutely bomb of flavor. Overall - wish I had a back up bottle because this is tremendous. 4.8/5
The nose is orange eucalyptus mint tea. Caramel. Polished wood. It's the kind of nose that doesn't rush you to take a sip. Pause and enjoy. The palate has a lot of spice from the jump. Cinnamon, clove, then caramelized orange, vanilla. The finish is sweet and woody. A little mint. Great whiskey, attractive bottle, very well-priced. What's not to like?
Nice mouthfeel. Best enjoyed neat. An excellent sipper despite the 110 proof. Fruity, complex tasting notes. Inclusion in WA top 25 for 2025 is well deserved. Buy if you find SRP.
This is a near perfect rye whiskey. Sagamore has a winner on their hands. Thus represents the flavor profile that made Maryland famous, prior to prohibition.
