Lively, fruity, and somewhat herbal, with notes of aromatic flowers on the nose. The flavor is rich, full and has a deep and somewhat rustic character that brings out the grape character expressively. Quite unlike the usual cognacs available in North America, this one has a unique character that can only be described as intriguingly terroir driven. To fully appreciate this spirit, let it breathe a bit before imbibing. A truly special release that recreates a flavor that was until recently, unavailable to all but a lucky few.
About this bottle
The Sazerac Company has reintroduced the Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cognac brand which disappeared in the 19th century after the Phylloxera epidemic wiped out most of the grapevines in France. It is meant to be a recreation of that original cognac. For Sazerac de Forge & Fils Finest Original Cognac, the youngest cognac is 7 years with the oldest having been distilled in the 1960s. It is bottled without chill-filtration at 94 proof. Available exclusively at the Sazerac House in New Orleans which opens October 2, 2019. Expect limited availability globally beginning spring 2020.

Tried neat. On the nares I get citrus, white wine, legit wine grapes… like picked off the vine. On the palate I get citrus and white wine with a finish of the citrus from a delicious beer.. if that makes sense?
Citrus, grapes, grass, fennel, oak and toast nose. Sweet and lightly peppery with grape, wood, vanilla and white pepper.
Nice and tasty. I get the butterscotch flavor and smoothness
