I’ve barely have had 2 or 3 tequilas in my lifetime. Was simply never a fan. Somehow, just never made it to the red wine love and whisk(e)y lust category for me, unlike mezcal...which for some odd reason I’ve liked. This one...not too shabby. Had this tonight at a Mexican restaurant, Friday evening out with a friend. I’m actually liking it. Who knows...can be that my bar is set so low with tequila. You know, like back in high school. You’re friends with every member of the football team, because they’re all hiring you for book reports, SATs, and homework, but you meet that one player who can actually get the 800 bare minimum needed to get a scholarship without paying you $1000 to take it for him. Yeah like that. Just catches you off-guard. So, anyway...nose: can’t ever freakin’ smell anything on tequila’s aroma. Is it supposed to? Maybe my olfactory senses are shit now, with old age and global warming. Taste: less vegetal, more crisp lemony grassy. No burn or nip in the finish. WTF? Isn’t tequila supposed to make me pucker up in the finish? This has a great mild smooth finish with lingering herbal basil taste. I won’t be replacing my red wine or whiskey anytime soon, but good to know there are other damn decent options out there.

It smells minty and earthy with a bit of sweet fruit. It is surprisingly smooth and oily with a menthol mintiness and some hints of prickly spice. The flavor beyond that has some bitter herbal flavor mixed with Earth. I guess it tastes aged, but it also tastes like alcohol. This tastes a bit like someone dropped some toasted wood in for 24 hours. This is frankly hard to drink because it tastes so much like jar-aged alcohol (in a bad way). There's some hints of cherry too, as if cherry wood was included in the jar. The complexity never comes out. The flavor is just not very good and also monotone. This tequila needs a lot of help.

Neat. Very pale straw color. Aroma of fruity agave, earth, slight vegetal, oak, and citrus. Taste is cooked fruity agave, green herbs (mint, tarragon, anise), some oak, vanilla, spice(cinnamon and black pepper), caramel. Finish has some sweetness with some bitter herbs Overall. Nicely balanced with the barrel flavors not masking the fruity agave notes. Lots of flavors to explore as it opens up

Delicioso tequila de destilería La Alteña, una destilería que no quiere volumen, quiere calidad y lo logra. Sedoso en aromas y sabores, madera, dátiles, vainilla. De.mos favoritos de Los Altos. Delicious tequila from La Alteña distillery, a distillery that does not want volume, it wants quality and achieves it. Silky in aromas and flavors, wood, dates, vanilla. One of our favorites from Los Altos.

Fresh green agave thay translates to a more roasted agave. Dashes of vanilla, slightest hints of caramel. Hints of green agave come back with a finish rich i. White pepper. I love tapatio, its got a label that terrifies the unassuming tequila drinkers but the ones in the know will understand. Great quality repo

An elegant, Agave Spirit by La Altena Distillery in Mexico aged in ex-bourbon casks for 4 months. It has an aromatic birth with notes of baked agave, wood, herbs & spices; while a rich life adds notes of caramel, oak & smoke; that led to a balanced death of medium length. May 2017
