This was a Barrel Pick at my local liquor store and it blew my mind. It's a very distinct Bourbon, presenting unexpected flavors and veering away from but expanding what I think Bourbon can be. If you want the common and to me, somewhat boring tasting notes of a Bourbon then this is not the dram for you. If you like something that colors outside the box and expands the Bourbon flavor palette then this bottle should absolutely be on your shelf. At the very least, you'll have a new delicious whiskey even if it's not a traditional Bourbon.

Drink It Neat 5.0

Solid drinker and perfect for Old Fashioneds. I see all the mixed reviews on Town Branch out there (and a lot of other whiskeys too), but at under $40 how can you not try it. Picked up a bottle and its super good for the price point - great value! Neat - lots of caramel, oak and dried orchard fruits. Mixed - can’t beat it in an Old Fashioned, the notes of the whiskey add to the cocktail and also @ 90 proof, just enough alcohol to hold the cocktail together.

Born In Bourbon 5.0

Revisiting Town Branch after I saw a packaging I hadn't seen before. Immediately noticing that it is now higher in proof than the bottle on my shelf from years ago. Great color off the bat with an apricot & nectarine nose. Soft on the mouthfeel but only in regard to heat, as expected lots more stone fruit throughout. Very enjoyable, great in an old fashioned having the cherry and nectarine compliment the components of the cocktail.

Nose- mild, sweet, slightly oaky Palate- very mild and subtle, starts with vanilla and mild oak and slides into herbal and licorice notes. Finish- aftertaste lingers and is heavy licorice and herbal. Overall- a mild everyday drinker. The flavors are not what I typically look for in a bourbon. It’s aftertaste lingers to the range of Malort. But it might work in the right mixer.

Nose is grainy bread. Starts with a sweet slightly carmel note with just a little bite. Smoke is very subtle with mid pallate being smooth sweetly complex with flavors of vanilla and carmel finishing with just the right amount of bite and heat. This is a good sipping wiskey and kind of reminds me of buffalo trace with a bit lighter note.

Flaviar 11/14/21 “B” - [ ] Poured and a bubble persisted, so likely about 90-99proof. Beautiful nose - ethanol, butterscotch, caramel. Taste is at first AWFUL - (that BARLEY flavor punch that I hate) that slides into caramel and actually a decent, rye slow lingering floral flavor. Body is light-medium. Too much barley for me to buy again.
