About this bottle

Town Branch True Cask is an uncut, non-chill filtered blend of two Kentucky bourbon mash bills. This includes the distillery's typical 72% corn, 15% malted barley, 13% rye mash bill, as well as an undisclosed higher corn recipe. The bourbon is made in small batches and bottled at batch strength.

[5.2023] I frankly can't tell you when I first had this. Spring semester of 2023 was a teacher's nightmare combo that I pretty well drank through like the spring of '20. But somewhere in that mix, I bought a bottle of this based on my long desire to find a single barrel version (now have one). I don't know what I paid for this but it was too much. Bartender at the distillery on a later visit said this was their best one but I disagree. It's simple harsh. Oily is a solid tag, combined with the vanilla and bite of an untamed liquor. Probably better with an ice cube - straight is not my favorite in this case.

Another bottle shared on a camping trip. This is the third expression I’ve tried from Town Branch, and with the exception of the Single Barrel, none of them have been anything all that special. The True Cask isn’t bad, it has a classic bourbon nose, flavors and a medium short finish. But there’s nothing to make it stand out either. May improve with some more time, but for now it’s just okay.

Strong peanut brittle sweet nose. Peanut followed by dill, and licorice, more nutty and herbal notes. Medium long finish.

I think if you are looking for something better than Ezra full proof and similar to McKenna 10 year this is your bottle!

Good Bourbon Flavor - Smooth Start with notes of Vanilla, Honey, and some Leather. Ends with more Vanilla and Cinnamon.

Heavy ethanol, vanilla, fruit on nose. Grains/cereal, citrus, vanilla, baking spices, banana. Fairly hot finish.
