NOSE3.5 Sugary cotton candy, sugar cookie with some strawberry icing. Twizzlers and hubba bubba gum PALATE 2.75 the multiple barrel finishes are overwhelming present, great finished flavors that steal the show instead of enhance the traditional rye flavors. Shaved coconut horchata lead way to the bubble gum and strawberry icing sugar cookie from the nose. FINISH 2.25 Medium, little thin. While the flavor on the nose and palate are robust and punchy the finish leaves a bit to be desired. The flavor kinda dies out while you still feel the heat from the 118 proof. VALUE 2.5 A wildly finished rye for 75. One that i might not consistently reach for but is a bottle that will always be in consideration when i want something tropical and or different profiled to standard bourbon and ryes.

Nose - Jolly Rancher medley, fruity bubble gum, fresh apricot, artificial grape, white pepper, orange peel, clove, very light oak, and strong ethanol. Palate - Runts, Jolly Ranchers, etc. The front palate is full of artificial fruit candies. Apricot and grape jam, white pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, brown sugar, butterscotch, and spicy rye notes. Finish is medium-long with lingering apricot syrup, grape candy, rye spice, Red Hots, black pepper, and strong ethanol bite. Finally got to try this via my brother, it's a good pour but also not sure the initial chase was justified. Luckily, it's readily available years after its release, and you can find it in some places for $80. If you like this kind of profile, definitely worth a pick up.
This whiskey is so good every time I revisit it. The nose is fantastic if you like sweeter spirits. But a neat pour really packs the spice. It plays a weird trick on your brain (going from the sweeter nose to the heat and spice of the rye) but it’s wonderful. Such a full bodied spirit. Really complex. Fun to drink. A big block of ice cuts the heat and brings out the sweeter notes. But it doesn’t lose any of the complexity. It’s a pricey bottle, but it’s worth it.
Grass notes on the nose along with some dankness in the back, black berry with a bit of citrus as well. Quite a bit of burn on the nose that doesn't appear in the least on the palate. Must be one of the most easy drinking cask strengths I've had. Easily. All kinds of fruit on the palate. It stays on the forefront with maple syrup lingering in the back. Apple appears with red licorice candy while the darker fruit notes that stay mostly consistent throughout.
Reveived a blind sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Light-medium amber. Nose: Bready notes with nuts and honey. Palate: Black pepper and baking spices dominate the palate. Finish: Long length with medium heat. Splash: Somehow the finish gets hotter with a few drops of water. Overall: 8/10 - The nose is amazing and what follows is wildly complex. It’s just a little too peppery for my taste.
Neat - on the nose, there is alot of fruity sweetness. The apricot brandy is noticeable on the nose, but not dominant or overwhelming. On the palate, there is alot of fruity sweetness, not necesarrily apricot, just fruit and sweetness. On the finish, there is also that classic and expected rye spice that comes through initially after sipping and sticks around for a little while after swallowing.
